A three-hour training that will teach about the powers of storytelling in therapy, and then apply this knowledge to play therapy through a specific technique that encourages the child to co-construct an imaginary world that acts as a safe space for emotional expression and trauma processing. This involves both play therapy and art therapy strategies and will walk clinicians through a step-by-step process supporting the development of the child’s imaginary world.
OBJECTIVES: Participants will:
• Clinicians will learn about the role of storytelling in Play Therapy including being able to list 3 benefits of storytelling in Play Therapy.
• Clinicians will learn 5 activity prompts for helping a child begin to build a story world.
• Clinicians will be able to identify at least 3 ways story creation can help children row new neural pathways.
