 APT Content Area: Special Topic

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 3 CONTACT CE Hours.

After the death of a loved one, many children struggle to understand their thoughts and emotions around life and death. This training is designed to provide counselors with strategies for helping children work through grief and loss in play therapy. Therapeutic activities using expressive art, music, and bibliotherapy will be discussed. This workshop provides a hands-on approach to learning, so participants will also have the opportunity to create, consider, and process some of their own experiences with grief. We hope to see you on August 15th!

OBJECTIVES: Participants will:

1. Identify the challenges children face after the death of a loved one

2. Recognize myths and facts about grief and grieving in play therapy

3. Integrate Worden’s Tasks of Mourning to working with children in play therapy

4. Participate in experiential play therapy activities to support grief work with children
